Top 5 Places To Visit In England

England, one of the finest travel destinations in the world with more things to see and do than you can possibly imagine so only a crazy fool would try and pick the the top 5 places to visit. However, here at Corbett’s Britain I don’t like to shy away from a challenge so here are the top 5 favourite places to visit in England.

London

Yes it is the obvious choice but quite rightly it is number one on the list because if you could only visit one place in the entire country then it would be the buzzing international melting pot of London.

London, one of the worlds most famous cities cannot be overrated as it takes pleasure in showing off its incredible history, beautiful buildings, world class shops, hair raising entertainment and an atmosphere unique only to England’s capital.

When you are in London, it feels as though you are at the centre of the world.

The Lake District

If you like the outdoors and you are in search of beautiful England then the Lake District is where you will end up. Glistening lakes, stunning views and misty mountains, throw in some gret treks, traditional cosy pubs and you have yourself a magical place to visit.

The Cotswolds

Many travellers come to England in search of ‘picture England’ which usually en tales a beautiful village in which if there were no cars you would be transported straight back to the 19th century. One of the many places where you can see this is in the stunning villages and towns that make up what is described as the heart of England, The Cotswold’s.

The only thing that can take away from this wonderful part of England is the huge amount of tourists that crowd the streets each year but even still it is a place you must add to your itinerary.

Manchester

Manchester is probably most famous around the world because of the cities two football teams but there is much more to this city than just football and boy is that understatement.

Over the past 15 years Manchester has grown to become England’s unofficial second city and when you visit you will quickly see why. It’s cool city style, history, shopping and wild night-life see’s Manchester being compared with Barcelona and it seems as though everybody wants to be in on the action with the BBC moving a lot of its offices here from London.

Cambridge

England is littered with beautiful, historic cities such as Oxford, Bath, York and as featured here, Cambridge.

A visit to England without exploring a place like Cambridge would be a real shame as you would miss out on some of England’s most stunning architecture, it’s incredible history and to witness a little of how the other half live, as not everybody gets to study at the world famous university you know.

And if you are not interested in any of that you can still have a great time by learning how to ‘punt’ which is a lovely way to spend an English summer.

Manchester must be doing well to be compared to Barcelona.

I wouldn’t mind going to manchester…. but for my trip, I am making Liverpool one of the biggest stops! Not only is there LFC and Everton, but how could you beat getting a photo walking across abbey road and seeing the beatles’ old recording studio!

Hi Justin, I highly recommend Liverpool and a visit to Liverpool Football Club is a great experience :)

I should just point out that Abbey Road is in fact in London so be sure to check that out next time you are in the capital.

Happy travels!
